Stupid story of the year.... :-|

Well I am in the thick of it right now with interview season upon me. I am currently interviewing for my last summer work term. I applied for 11 jobs and managed to get 9 interviews. A pretty good ratio if you ask me? It all started on the very first day where I had a interview with one of the two companies that I really wanted to work for, Online Business Systems (OBS). So there I was 5 minutes before my interview time and the sign up poster for the other company I wanted to work for EDS went up asking those who got interviews to select a time that works for their interview. So I signed up for my time slot. Shortly after that one of the persons from OBS came into the waiting room and got me.

Well I sat down and they proceeded to start telling me about the position and their company. The first question they asked me was :

"So tell us why you want to work for Online."

I proceeded to answer quickly....

"Well I want to work for EDS because...."

I just stopped at this point because I realized what I just said. I simply said

"WOW"

They laughed and said don't worry about it. So I continued on with my interview with a clean slate. At that point I was thinking to myself, I could not do any worse so just have fun. I only understood half way through why I actually said EDS instead of OBS, (because of the poster sign up) but then figured it would just be another slap in the face to bring it up again so I let the dead dog lie. One of my buddies said I should have just got up after saying that and said thanks and walked out. LOL That might have been a good choice too. So basically the worst thing one could do in a interview, I managed to pull off. It will be interesting to see if they rank me next week. Since the pressure was off, I was really comfortable for the rest of the interview and came up with some very good answers and questions. I still do not think that one can return from something like that but it would be funny if I get a high ranking from them.

I have three left this Friday, and then the matching week starts next week. I rank the companies that I interviewed for from 1 to 9 in order I want to work for. The companies also rank the candidates that they interviewed in order they want to hire. There is a one lady who then goes over them and tries to match up ones with ones and so on. So we will see next week if I will be working at KFC or a real company but he anticipation is kind of fun......

So stick with me and life will always be interesting.... This just adds to my already existing portfolio of embarrassing stories. The difference though between you and me, is that I publish my own mistakes on-line...haha
